The international conference on Academic Publishing in Europe (APE 2009) will take place in Berlin, Germany, on 20 and 21 January.

This fourth edition of the conference is dedicated to 'The impact of publishing'. This theme will be looked at in a broad perspective, ranging from usage and users, peer reviewing and quality assurance, branding, funding and investing, business models, new types of information, enabling technologies, and search engines to research excellence, dissemination, access and sharing of knowledge. The aim is to improve the understanding of scholarly communication through value-added publishing and the increasingly important role of relevant information in science and society.

The event will attract participants from academic, educational, scientific, technological, medical and legal backgrounds, as well as professional publishers, scientists, authors, editors, librarians, teachers, representatives of learned and professional societies and associations, funding agencies, politicians, policy makers, subscription agencies, booksellers, recruiting agencies, and technology providers. For further information, please visit:
