A symposium on "The role of regional energy agencies in the promotion of renewable energy " will take place during this year's THERMIE exhibition, which is being held on 19-24 September 1994 in Berlin. It is organized by the European Commission (DG XVII).
The symposium will take place on 23 September. Following on from the Madrid Conference (March 1994) which resulted in the Declaration of Madrid and the "Action plan for renewable energy sources in Europe", the symposium will focus on the roles of regional energy agencies. It will examine, from the viewpoint of the agencies, the barriers, recommendations and strategies affecting the widespread application of renewable energy sources.
