The European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) are hosting the fifth European conference on space debris from 30 March to 2 April in Darmstadt, Germany.

Scientists, engineers, operators and policy makers will meet to discuss different aspects of space debris research, including measurement techniques, model theories, risk analyses, mitigation concepts and policy issues.

While there will be some emphasis on the topic of space surveillance, the conference will also highlight classical disciplines of space debris research:
- radar, optical and in-situ measurements;
- debris environment modelling;
- on-orbit and re-entry risk assessments;
- orbit prediction and determination;
- debris mitigation principles;
- hypervelocity impacts and shielding;
