A conference on 'Sustainable development - a challenge for European research' will take place from 26 to 28 May in Brussels, Belgium.

The event is organised by the European Commission, in cooperation with the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and will highlight the multiple ways in which European research contributes to global sustainable development. These include understanding the environment, technological solutions, and influencing mindsets and behaviours.

The Commission's Directorate-General for Research is looking to gather scientists, industry, civil society and research and development (R&D) policy-makers to gain insights into their views regarding what R&D can and cannot do for sustainability.

This three-day conference will also take stock of the progress made so far in the Seventh Framework Programme and identify ways and means for putting the European research system at the service of sustainable development.For further information, please visit:
