The EU-funded ESTOOLS project is organising an open symposium on stem cell science, ethics and communication in Rome, Italy, on 27 May.

At the event, the scientific activity and insights achieved by the ESTOOLS consortium and its collaborators will be highlighted, along with the interdependence between stem cell science and other public issues.

The preliminary programme includes sessions dedicated to the following subjects:
- 'Latest developments in science';
- 'Outside the lab: patenting and the non-scientific environment';
- 'The conditions for successful communication & engagement between the public and pluripotent stem cell research at the Italian & European level';
- 'Applications of stem cells';
