The EU-funded EDC2020 ('European development cooperation to 2020') project is organising a workshop entitled 'European Development Cooperation to 2020: Can Europe meet climate change challenges for European development cooperation?' on 22 April in Brussels, Belgium.

European countries are facing two key challenges in their efforts to support developing countries respond to climate change. First is the issue of how to raise and provide the necessary financing for such initiatives. Second is the question of how to ensure coordination and coherence between different Member States' efforts and different departments, i.e. environment and development. Overcoming these interlinked challenges is crucial to laying the foundations for a future climate change regime that is effective and sustainable in the long-term.

This workshop will focus on these issues within the context of the European development cooperation and climate change policy processes.For further information, please visit:
