The EULAKS project will host a conference on 'Latin American and European perspectives on the social science-policymaking nexus in the knowledge society' on 8 and 9 June 2009 in Vienna, Austria.

Keynote speeches and contributions from panellists during the first day of the event will focus on the challenges faced when constructing knowledge societies. On the second day, policy perspectives and the role of the social sciences in public policy development will be covered.

The conference is part of the EULAKS ('Connecting socio-economic research on the dynamics of the knowledge society in the European Union and Latin American and Caribbean Countries') project, which is funded under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). EULAKS aims to foster a shared understanding of the challenges in the construction of knowledge societies in Europe and Latin America via support for networks and partnerships between the social science communities of both regions.For further information, please visit:
