Plinius conference on Mediterranean storms, Barcelona, Spain
The conference will cover a wide range of topics, including:
- natural and physical processes of extreme events;
- possible changes in storm behaviour resulting from anticipated climate changes;
- advanced techniques to observe, monitor and forecast hazardous storms;
- relationships between atmospheric and surface processes for both land and sea situations, with particular emphasis on the effects of coupled processes in generating damaging floods and landslides.
After ten years of working on an improved understanding of the basic scientific aspects of Mediterranean storms, this year's conference will place a greater focus on interdisciplinary participation. Organisers are encouraging scientific experts in the fields of meteorology, climatology, hydrology, geomorphology, oceanography, sociology, economics, engineering and the government management sector to participate.For further information, please visit:
