3 October 2009 - 3 October 2009
Sweden
The European Science Foundation (ESF) will hold a conference on global change research from 3 to 7 October in Nynäshamn, Sweden. The event is organised in collaboration with the Swedish Research Council (VR) and the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning (FORMAS).

Under the title 'Global change challenges: transforming energy systems', the conference will centre on the research basis for the long-term transformation of energy systems needed to achieve the sustainable production of energy for future generations. The event will begin by studying the current landscape of energy production and envisioning future sustainable energy systems. Afterwards, the transformations necessary to realise such systems will be examined.

As a prelude to the United Nations climate conference in Copenhagen in December 2009, this event will aim to produce a report detailing:
- the major transformations needed;
- the desired energy systems landscape;
- a description of the research needed;
- suggestions for an implementation framework to enable and support the energy systems envisaged.For further information, please click:
