Workshop on biomarkers and cancer, Porto, Portugal
The agenda includes sessions on:
- DNA damage and DNA repair as biomarkers;
- further development of biomarkers of oxidative damage to DNA and its link to cancer prevention;
- human bio-monitoring for environmental health surveillance;
- biomarkers for cancer chemoprevention;
- mechanistic insights and use of biomarkers for improved carcinogen risk assessment of mixtures;
- genotoxicity of PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon) mixtures and organic extracts from urban air particles;
- risk assessment of genotoxins with non-linear, dose-response curves;
- theoretical considerations on cancer risk resulting from simultaneous or sequential exposure to more than one cancer risk factor.
Established in 2005, the ECNIS network explores the potential of biomarkers of exposure and bio-indicators of disease to determine how diet and hereditary factors influence environmental cancer risk. The overall goal is to bring together researchers from different disciplines in order to share expertise and resources, collaborate in research, provide training and communicate knowledge to stakeholders, such as regulators and policy makers.For further information, please visit:
