Conference on hearing and sight loss, Sant Feliu de Guixols, Spain
The meeting will bring together experts in sensory neuroscience, developmental biology, genetics, cell biology, modelling, translational research and therapy. It aims to promote scientific exchange, stimulate the emergence of new research projects between disciplines and introduce young researchers to the field.
Parallel sessions will discuss and compare vision and hearing under the following headings:
- processing of sensory information by the two sensory systems;
- evolution of the two sensory systems;
- development of sensory organs and associated developmental defects;
- mechanisms of sensory transduction and associated disorders;
- role of the cilium and the ribbon synapses in photoreceptor cells and auditory hair cells, and the pathogenesis of disorders affecting the two sensory systems;
