Symposium on the future of higher education institutions, Stockholm, Sweden

The Academia Europaea and the Wenner Gren Foundation will hold an international symposium entitled 'From information to knowledge; from knowledge to wisdom: challenges and changes facing higher education in the digital age' from 5 to 7 November in Stockholm, Sweden.

The event will revolve around how higher education institutions can adapt to the challenges they face in the 21st century, as European universities are rapidly becoming 'mass' and 'multi-purpose' institutions. How can they deal with the impact of the massive increase of retrievable information and the explosive development of digital archiving and access? What are the consequences of these ongoing developments for the role of science in the knowledge and learning society of the future?

Specific topics will include:
