Topology is a mathematical discipline which can help in the understanding of different kinds of social and cultural changes. Topological and intensive approaches provide a set of tools and concepts to think about levels and types of change - learning, transmission, innovation, adaptation, self-organisation and evolution.
The conference looks into the potential of topological and other intensive approaches to culture and space for thinking about change. It also covers how and why the question of change is being posed in relation to culture.
There will be a cultural policy event for industry and policy makers, with a focus on social and cultural trends, different ways of thinking about predictability and the management of cultural change, especially in relation to processes of innovation.
