Conference on broadband networks and European regions, Brussels, Belgium

An event entitled 'Improving the deployment of innovative broadband networks in European regions' will take place on 9 October in Brussels, Belgium.

Organised in part by the SFERA ('Structural funds for European regional advancement') project, the conference will offer a strategic view on existing opportunities for fast deployment of advanced access infrastructures, particularly broadband and next-generation information and communication technology (ICT) networks. It is addressed to European regional stakeholders interested in knowing how to formulate appropriate policies, create strategic plans and conduct research, implement innovative agendas, and identify key objectives for regional development.

With a practical approach, the event will provide scenarios, case studies, and business models to promote discussion around the following topics:
- new opportunities of growth for European aisled regions through ICT research and development investments;
- definition of policies and forward-thinking plans for broadband services;
- establishing successful links between the EU recovery plan and broadband expansion;
