An event on 'Governing uncertainty: science and the challenge of forecasting' will take place on 5 November in Turin, Italy.

The occasion will bring together international experts to address the role of uncertainty, chance and likelihood in the different fields of human action and the disciplinary paths that govern them.

Questions that will be addressed include:
- What part does chance play in great historical, political and economic upheavals?
- What degree of accuracy do mathematical models offer in forecasting market trends and assessing the risk of natural and industrial incidents in the medical or meteorological fields?
- Information and communication technology (ICT) tools and agent-based simulations multiply the information available to decision-makers: with which effects on the capability to interpret, decide and plan?
