FramingNano final conference, Brussels, Belgium
Aiming to provide recommendations for the sustainable and successful use and development of nanotechnologies, the event will offer an opportunity to discuss the Governance Framework for Nanotechnologies developed on the basis of key stakeholder input as part of the project. Later, the governance plan will be proposed to the European Commission as a model of management to be followed by European policy makers and stakeholders. The aim is to ensure that the development of nanosciences and nanotechnologies takes place responsibly, to the benefit of individuals and society as a whole.
Key elements of the governance plan include:
- prioritising actions and research needs in environmental, health and safety (EHS) and ethical, legal, and social issues (ELSI) areas;
- indicating how to manage and sustain a European policy for nanosciences and nanotechnologies development;
- identifying the tasks to be faced at international level;
- suggesting how to involve and inform the public and how to channel stakeholders' opinions and proposals into European policy on nanotechnology.For further information, please click:
