The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is organising a course entitled 'Exploring modular protein architecture' from 19 to 22 January 2010 in Heidelberg, Germany.

Over the last few years, the scientific view of Eukaryotic regulatory proteins has fundamentally changed. The course will introduce new biological concepts and provide extensive hands-on training on the relevant bioinformatic tools with appropriate example proteins. The capabilities, as well as the limitations, of the software currently available will be examined.

Topics will include:
- multiple sequence alignment;
- an introduction to common bioinformatic tools;
- protein-protein interaction networks;
