An international symposium on stem cells in biology and disease will be held from 26 to 28 May in Lisbon, Portugal.

The symposium is being organised by ESTOOLS ('Functional genomics of human embryonic stem cell differentiation') project, funded by the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6).

During the event, there will be six scientific sessions with three named speakers each who will deliver a lecture and then allow for questions afterwards. Each session will have a fourth speaker selected on the basis of poster abstracts submitted in advance of the symposium. A workshop looking at the prospects for human embryonic stem cells will be held on the last day of the event.

The symposium programme also features a set of outreach activities, planned together with the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciencia, for schools and the general public.For further information, please visit:
