A workshop on monitoring technologies for radioactive waste and geological repositories will be held from 7 to 8 June in Troyes, France.

Entitled 'Workshop on monitoring technologies - potential application to monitoring of geological repositories for radioactive waste', the event aims to bring together monitoring specialists from the civil, mining, oil and gas, nuclear engineering, carbon capture and storage, gas storage, and radioactive waste management fields. The main goals of the workshop are to:
- review recent developments in monitoring technologies,
- facilitate knowledge transfer between these related fields,
- consider application of monitoring technologies to repository monitoring.

Discussions will be structured around oral presentations, poster sessions and informal exchanges. In particular, a brief introduction to geological repositories and the option of a field trip to the Meuse/Haute Marne Underground Research Laboratory will provide participants with an insight into monitoring requirements related to radioactive waste disposal.

The event is organised by the FP7-funded Modern ('Monitoring developments for safe repository operation and staged closure') project. For further information, please visit:
