Workshop on efficient use of agricultural land in the EU and its effects outside Europe, Brussels, Belgium
Speakers will present the latest findings in research on the topic of 'EU agricultural production and trade: Can more efficient use of agricultural land in the EU prevent increasing 'land-grabbing' outside of Europe'. This will include details on:
- 'The virtual agricultural land trade of the EU to fulfil Europe's demand for food, feed and biofuel needs',
- 'Its potential implications for the future reform of the Common Agricultural Policy',
- 'The role innovation will play on land productivity and Europe's eco-efficiency'.
The presentation will be followed by a high-level panel discussion will representatives from the media, European Parliament, the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development, the Organisation of farmers and their co-operatives in the European Union (COPA/COGECA) and the Mission of South Africa to the EU.
