Conference on 'Social indicators of trust and confidence in justice', Parma, Italy
The event will be the second organised by the EU-funded Euro-JUSTIS ('Scientific indicators of confidence in justice') project.
Scientific issues related to the topic of public trust in justice will be discussed, with the participation of representatives of national and European Institutions and researchers from the wider scientific community
A specific session will be devoted to the presentation of EU-funded projects in the field of crime and deviance. The objective will be to identify common issues across these projects and explore the scope for future cooperation in the years 2010 and 2011.
The Euro-JUSTIS project is based on the assumption that an effective justice system must assess itself not only against narrow criteria of crime control, but against broader criteria relating to people's trust in justice and their sense of security. Researchers are looking to develop and pilot survey-based indicators of public confidence in justice - a term used here to embrace issues relating to fairness, trust and insecurity. They will develop tools for presenting and interpreting the indicators in ways that are intuitive and accessible. For further information, please visit:
