A conference on 'visions of sustainable urban energy systems' will be held in Stuttgart, Germany from 15 to 17 September 2010.

More than half of the world's population lives in cities and are responsible for about 70% of total emissions. To reduce the impact of climate change, new energy concepts are needed improve the energy efficiency of urban areas, especially in the field of buildings.

On the first day of the conference, a presentation on how to use the newest renewable supply simulations for communal energy management is planned. This will be followed by an excursion to the German project-area 'Scharnhauser Park', where the renewable supply simulations are being tried and tested.

Innovative energy supply concepts using solar thermal, energy management strategies, biomass and photovoltaics will be discussed on the two subsequent conference days.

Representatives from the energy sector, architecture, politics, administrative and economic bodies, universities and research organisations are among those slated to attend the event.For further information, please visit:
