Workshop on artificial intelligence and logistics, Lisbon, Portugal
Logistics is concerned with the organisation and control of processes in space and time in order to transport or manufacture goods and coordinate resulting flows of material, information and money.
The complexity and dynamics of logistic networks have reached a level where the processes are increasingly difficult to fully observe and control. At the same time, recent trends in logistics point towards solutions with distributed and self-organising processes.
Such logistic networks are characterised by a wide variety of heterogeneous properties, constraints, and requirements: temporal (very quickly, just in time), economic (low cost, given budget), physical (smooth, secure travel), informational (public, secure data) and environmental (low energy, ecology-preserving). To ensure that all parts of a network function in harmony, methods from artificial intelligence (AI) and cognitive science may be required.
The event will address the interplay of AI and logistics, and serve as a platform for looking at issues in the field. For further information, please visit:
