Third International Workshop Social Data on the Web, Shanghai, China
The 'semantic web' is a term used to describe methods and technologies to allow machines to understand the meaning of information on the Internet. The 'social web' is often regarded as a variety of applications for rapidly publishing and disseminating information to a community of interest: blogs, wikis, microblogging, status notification, and so on.
Interaction between the two webs has opened up a variety of possibilities and ways of working. However, there are still a variety of important issues and research questions that must be considered regarding data that arises from social interactions, such as scalability, reasoning, privacy, context-awareness and security.
The event will aim to bring together researchers, developers and practitioners involved in semantically-enhancing social media websites, as well as academics researching more formal aspects of interactions between the semantic and social webs.
