Tenth Berlin Conference on the Human Dimensions of Global Environmental Change, Berlin, Germany
Recently, the economic costs and benefits of environmental change and governance have been at the centre of national and international public policy and academic debates. The socio-economic causes and impacts of global environmental change and the inadequacy of policies addressing them, though, have remained at the margins of academic research and global policy discussions.
This means that a great deal of work remains in bridging the gap between ongoing efforts to conceptualise, analyse and measure the social dimensions of environmental change, policies and governance structures and the corresponding efforts in mainstream economic analysis. At the same time, the social dimensions should be examined as industrialised and developing societies face potentially dramatic environmental changes and will have to undergo fundamental transformations to achieve sustainable development.
This edition of the conference will bring together scientists from different social science disciplines that are addressing social dimensions of environmental change and governance in their research.For further information, please visit:
