Third International Conference on Business Process and Service Computing, Leipzig, Germany
Business process management (BPM) is based on the premise that applications and business processes can evolve independently from both process and data management. While database technology underpins data independence, the technology of web services and service-oriented architecture (SOA) are at the forefront of enabling process independence. Ultimately, a new category of system software, business process management systems (BPMS) may provide a process-side counterpart to database technology.
In a way, the meeting of SOA and BPM is resulting in a new process-centric paradigm that holds great promise for enterprise and business-to-business computing.
One of the major challenges for BPM is dealing with the constant need to adapt implemented processes to the changing business demands. As the degree of automation in BPM is currently rather limited, there is potential in automating BPM through the use of semantic web services and technologies.
The event will seek to highlight research and industry solutions for modern business process automation that is (most likely) based on services computing. It will also look at process management as a new paradigm with semantics and meta-models radically different from applications that merely implement business processes. For further information, please visit
