The Eighth Conference of Finnish-Russian University Cooperation in Telecommunications (FRUCT) Programme will be held in Lappeenranta, Finland from 9 to 12 November 2010.

A distinctive feature of modern information technology and telecommunications industries is a dramatic shortening of the period when technology remains commercially viable.

This is partly because competition between key market players push manufacturers to accelerate innovation. It is also due the increased speed of technological progress caused by the growing expansion of intellectual resource invested in R&D and design activities. This trend is an important call and challenge for the leading educational and research institutions around the globe.

The FRUCT programme combines the forces of EU and Russia to follow up the competition in adapting university education to new industrial trends. The initiative is a bridge between Russian and Finnish academic worlds. It will help increase the visibility of involved research teams and allow for direct personal contacts between academic and industrial experts.For further information, please visit:
