Barcelona Multicore Workshop 2010, Barcelona, Spain
The workshop will examine recent developments in multicore chips by bringing together prominent researchers active in the fields of computer architecture, programming languages and formal foundations. The purpose of the workshop is to share ideas across these communities and to discuss cutting edge research and products. BMW2010 will consist of invited talks, panel discussions and will also provide time for informal discussion.
The workshop will be used to address pressing issues facing the software community, such as how to programme machines in the most productive way. Issues facing the hardware community, such as how to design many-cores so as to maximise the potential performance, will also be addressed.
Both these issues essentially describe the same challenge facing both communities: how to maximise the effectiveness of many-cores. The organisers behind BMW2010 believe that solutions will require multidisciplinary hardware -software participation.
This year's workshop, which is being organised by BSC, Hipeac and Microsoft, will build on the success of the first workshop, which was held in 2008.
