7th ACEM Annual Conference, Brussels, Belgium
The aim of the conference is to provide an overview of the motorcycle sector, and to engage policymakers, stakeholders and company managers in productive discussions on current challenges and opportunities. Most importantly, the conference provides the perfect opportunity to discuss the European Commission's recent proposal for a Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of two- or three-wheel vehicles and quadricycles.
This proposal covers a wide range of vehicles such as powered cycles, mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles, on-road quads and mini-cars. It contains a series of provisions covering vehicle categorisation, simplification of the current legal framework, market surveillance and new environment and safety requirements. The proposed Regulation would also have an impact on design, R&D, production planning and administrative processes.
With the proposal currently being considered in the European Parliament and in the Council, the 7th ACEM Conference will provide an ideal forum for exchanging views. A representative of the European Commission will give a presentation, while views of the industry will be given by Jacques Compagne, ACEM Secretary General.
Manufacturers will also have the opportunity to display vehicles and innovations in the exhibition area during the walking lunch and after the conference.
ACEM, the Motorcycle Industry in Europe, represents the interests of manufacturers producing a total of 26 motorcycles and moped brands, providing jobs to over 150,000 people. ACEM members are responsible for 90% of the production and up to 80% of the European powered two-wheeler (PTW) market. For further information, please visit:
