The Fourth International Conference on Spacecraft Formation Flying Missions and Technologies will be held from 18 to 20 May 2011 in St-Hubert, Canada.

Satellite formation flying is a concept whereby multiple satellites work together as a group to accomplish the same tasks that would be performed by a larger, usually more expensive, satellite.

This type of concept has many potential benefits, such as simpler designs, faster build times, or the ability to view research targets from multiple angles or at multiple times. These qualities make satellite formation flying ideal for astronomy, communications, meteorology, and environmental uses.

The event is designed to be a forum for stakeholders in system design and architecture, platform and launching technologies, distributed sensors, orbit and formation guidance, inter-satellite links, simulation tools, and related regulation to gather and explore upcoming formation-flying missions. For further information, please visit: http://www.sffmt2011.org/00-welcome_e.shtml(opens in new window)
