A conference entitled 'The economies of Balkan and eastern Europe countries in the changed world' will take place from 5 to 8 May 2011 in Pitesti, Romania.

The economies of Balkan and eastern European countries seen a great deal of change and reform over the course of the past two decades. This has seen significant difficulties, and has highlighted the particular problems that the countries of the particular region face. Reform and change has led to different sates and patterns of growth and enhancement of the economies.

The objectives of the conference are to discuss and evaluate the results of the economic policy that have been applied during the last two decades, examine potential challenges and investigate the policies which are considered necessary for countries to be successful in the future.

Topics will look at the wider domain of economic science in the context of south-eastern Europe, including:
- public economy;
- monetary policy;
- the role and the importance of EU;
- changes in the labour market and immigration;
- societal change;
- the role of new technologies and information technology;
