The Fifth Workshop on Supporting Socio-ethically Intelligent Assistive Technologies Adoption will take place on 8 March 2011 in Brussels, Belgium.

The event will focus on research challenges relating to the seamless adoption, integration and adaptation of companion robots as socially-aware assistive devices at home, or at work for enhanced life/work-style support, comfort and societal benefits.

The workshop is sponsored by the 'Integrated cognitive assistive and domotic companion robotic systems for ability and security' (Companionable) project, which is funded under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).

The Companionable project is researching the synergy of robotics and ambient intelligence technologies, combined with the possibilities of a robotic companion working collaboratively within a smart home environment. The project brings together leading gerontologists, specialist elderly care institutions, and industrial and academic partners with an emphasis on cognitive robotics and smart-house capabilities. For further information, please click: here(opens in new window)
