The final conference of the 'European development cooperation to 2020' (EDC 2020) project will be held on 10 February 2011 in Brussels, Belgium.

Over the past three years, the EDC 2020 project has studied issues surrounding Europe's relations with developing countries. The initiative has been organised around three major topics: new actors in international development, Europe's energy security and climate change.

The conference will look at conclusions from each of these areas, and what these mean at a time when questions of European identity loom large in national debates. The event will also examine four overarching questions:
- 'What are the key challenges for European development cooperation?'
- 'How does the Lisbon Treaty reshape European development cooperation?'
- 'What should be the EU development policy objectives in the next decade?'
- 'How can European Development Cooperation help shape Europe's role on the global stage?'For further information, please visit: http://www.edc2020.eu/index.php?id=98(opens in new window)
