A conference entitled 'The role of technology in achieving extended life years' will be held on 1 March 2011 in Vienna, Austria.

This event will examine the human life cycle and the role of technology in adding to it. Presentations and discussion will examine the scientific, end user, and private sector perspective and introduce key European projects underway in this area. Individual speech topics are set to include:
- 'Braid: Bridging research in ageing and information technology development';
- 'Ambient Assisted Living Forum';
- 'The importance of new technologies for therapy checkup in geriatric patients';
- 'Involving older people in technological innovation';
- 'New technologies emerging from biogerontology research - what is utopia, what is reality?';
- 'European innovation partnerships - first pilot test on 'Active and healthy ageing'.

The European Research Area in Ageing 2 (ERA-AGE 2) is a three-year project funded by the European Commission, under the Seventh Framework Programme.
