European conference on cognitive ergonomics, Rostock, Germany
Understanding cognitive abilities and limitations of humans in order to design work systems, tasks and technological artefacts has always been a central part of cognitive ergonomics. Within this, the focus of cognitive ergonomics has traditionally been on the performance of single operators or users interacting with machines and computers.
Recent work, however, emphasises the interplay between humans and artefacts in complex social settings enhanced by technology. The application of theoretical frameworks such as distributed cognition and activity theory contributed to this change in perspective.
The main theme of the event will be 'Designing collaborative activities'. The conference is expected to bring together researchers and practitioners who are interested in disseminating their knowledge, experience and ideas in the area of cognitive ergonomics, human technology interaction and cognitive engineering. For further information, please visit: http://ecce2011.eace.net/(opens in new window)
