Eighth European Summer School on Information Retrieval, Koblenz, Germany
Information retrieval (IR) is the science concerned with the effective and efficient retrieval of documents starting from their semantic content. The core methods and techniques in information retrieval are those for designing and developing IR systems, web search engines, and tools for information storing and querying.
Computer users come into contact with the field when they make a query on a system. This, in turn, may result in several objects may match the query, perhaps with different degrees of relevancy. These are then ranked by perceived relevance.
The event will be a chance to learn about information retrieval and related research topics. Expected participants will include computer scientists, research students working on topics related to management of information on the internet and industrial stakeholders. For further information, please visit: http://essir.uni-koblenz.de/(opens in new window)
