An event entitled 'Carbon nanotubes and related materials: from physico-chemical properties to biological and environmental effects' will take place from 6 to 11 September 2011 in Acquafredda di Maratea, Italy.

Nanomaterials have specific properties that are mainly governed by quantum physics or surface effects. These are significantly different from those found in macroscopic objects. Emblematic nanomaterials are carbon nanotubes, which have generated a significant amount of scientific research.

The general aim of this conference will be to give carbon nanotubes (CNT) research stakeholders (physicists, chemists, biologists) not only background level of the topic, but the latest in CNT research developments. The conference programme will feature courses accessible to scientists of different fields, as well as more specialised courses. The event will focus on four general topics:
-synthesis/characterization of CNT;
- CNT chemistry;
- health effects of CNT;
- environmental effects of CNT.

The conference will allow scientists from the different fields to acquire, increase and share their specific knowledge, and to make their own research understandable to scientists from other disciplines.For further information, please click: here(opens in new window)
