The Fifth International Conference on Complex Distributed Systems will take place from 5 to 7 December 2011 in Mannheim, Germany.

The term 'cloud computing' refers to the provision of computational resources on demand via a computer network, such as applications, databases, file services, email, etc. In the traditional model of computing, both data and software are fully contained on the user's computer. In cloud computing, though, the user's computer may contain almost no software or data (perhaps a minimal operating system and web browser only), serving as little more than a display terminal for processes occurring on a network of computers far away.

Cloud computing is a very popular topic in information technology and is seen by some as one of the very piers of the future internet. The benefits and the risks of the delivery of all types of services via the cloud have relevance for industry, business, academia and governments.

With cloud computing the processing of information will become a pervasively accessible utility and commodity. Despite the distributed locations and heterogeneous control and administration of cloud resources, predict some stakeholders, cloud computing will be easy-to-use and indispensable for everyday life and working.

The event will be a forum for researchers and engineers to present cutting-edge research and development progresses in all areas related to architecture, design, implementation, application and evaluation of Cloud computing, services and environments. For further information, please visit: http://siwn.org.uk/cods11/ccs11.htm(opens in new window)
