'Internet and societies', Brussels, Belgium
In a few short years, the internet has become a feature of everyday life in Europe and around the world. While it has the power to impact and transform societies in the long-term, the internet should also be adapted to the needs of tomorrow's societies. This is particularly true if societal paradigm shifts and a truly sustainable future are envisioned.
The event will be organised by the EU-funded 'Internet for the future' (Paradiso) project. Over the past three years, it has been exploring the foreseeable interactions between internet and societal developments in the next decades, identifying new innovation paths, and suggesting recommendations on research to be developed under the European Union's next framework programme.
The conference programme will focus on understanding the possible and probable interactions between the internet and societal developments in the near future, from which recommendations on innovative research areas and applications to explore can be derived. There will also be a speech by the EC's Digital Agenda Commissioner, Neelie Kroes. For further information, please visit: http://paradiso-fp7.eu/events/2011-conference/(opens in new window)
