The Flemish VALUE Relay Centre is organizing a European workshop on "Chemical sensors for metallurgical processes", which will take place on 8-9 December 1994 in Mol, Belgium.

The first day of the event will be a science and technology day, during which the basic concepts and latest developments in chemical sensors will be presented. The second day will be a technology transfer day aimed at presenting and exploiting the results of the following European R&D projects in the field of chemical sensors:

- High-temperature sensors in molten metallurgical phases;
- Electrochemical sensors for the aluminium industry;
- Fabrication technology for the production of metal oxide based sensors;
- An automatic system for controlling the process of metal recovery from slags;
- Self-regulating systems for the sodium content of aluminium;
- On-line gas analysis techniques in coal gasification processes.

The workshop will take place directly after the Fifth EC Conference on "RTD in industrial technologies" (BRITE/EURAM) in Brussels on 6-9 December 1994.
