'Exploring new landscapes of energies', Brno, Czech Republic
Environmental geography describes the spatial aspects of interactions between humans and the natural world. It requires an understanding of the dynamics of geology, meteorology, hydrology, biogeography, ecology, and geomorphology, and the ways in which human societies conceptualise the environment. The field assesses the impact of human presence on the environment by measuring the result of human activity on natural landforms and cycles.
The conference is open to all stakeholders dealing with programme issues - both geographers and non-geographers (landscape ecologists, environmental sociologists, environmental economists, and others) dealing with contemporary regional problems. Topics set to be covered during the event will include:
- new energy geographies: conceptual and methodological challenges;
- social acceptance of new energy technologies;
- energy development, landscape character and landscape aesthetics;
- new energies for agriculture and multifunctional farming;
- local identity, sense of place and land-use conflicts;
- power, environmental (in)justice and politics of land-use;
- geographic information systems for landscape planning and energy development.For further information, please visit: http://www.geonika.cz/doplnky/Congeo%202011.pdf(opens in new window)
