'Food and nutrition in the 21st century', Warsaw, Poland
The bio-based economy encompasses the full range of ecosystems - land and sea resources, biodiversity and biological materials (plant, animal and microbe), processing, and consumption. Today, this area is an important sector of the economy, providing growth and employment to millions of Europeans.
The Seventh Framework Programme in Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, and Biotechnology aims to create a strong and competitive bio-economy and to offer solutions to challenges facing Europe and the world, such as feeding a growing world population and fighting climate change while mitigating its effects.
The conference will try to identify major trends in food and nutrition science and technology and to identify the various challenges facing the agri-food industry and to food security and safety in European and global dimension, and thus contribute to defining research priorities for the next 10-15 years.
