Third International Workshop on Pervasive Collaboration and Social Networking, Lugano, Switzerland
The rapid rise of online social communities has led to new trends in personal networking. Internet-based platforms, for example, currently attract large numbers of users. Many social communities are now going mobile, using smartphones or other wireless devices in addition to or instead of a desktop computer. Another trend is the rise of special mobile location-based and proximity-based social networks where users explore the real world connected to and aided by the social network.
As a result, online social communities provide a platform for communication and interaction with network contacts both in real-time and non real-time. Typical collaboration features include real-time chat, map-based interaction, notifications about friends' activities, proximity alerts, or even augmented reality games. This means that collaboration and social networking functionality are increasingly more and more tied together and create a new social interaction experience for the participants.
The aim of the event will be to bring together researchers from the areas of mobile and pervasive computing, social networking, and collaboration to explore the research challenges, potentials and business perspective of future pervasive interaction based on social networking technology. For further information, please visit: http://141.76.41.127/percol2012/index.php
