The Ambient-assisted living forum will take place from 26 to 28 September 2011 in Lecce, Italy.

The event is being organised by the Ambient Assisted Living Joint Programme (AAL). The programme's objective is to enhance the ability of people to live independently for longer as life expectancies increase. Demographic change and ageing in Europe mean not only challenges but also opportunities for citizens, social and healthcare systems, and industry.

The conference will feature keynote speeches and centre around several themed tracks:
- wellbeing and care;
- social interaction;
- self-serve society;
- future calls;
- European policies.

There will also be a young researcher workshop. It will focus on research on participants from various disciplines (geriatrics, engineering, architecture, informatics, psychology, sociology, nursing sciences and economics) who research technical solutions that can be used by older adults.

A number of parallel events will take place at the conference, including a workshop on web-based tools for care innovation, business consultation sessions, help on intellectual property, a workshop on social robotics, and a benchmark and evaluation methods competition.For further information, please visit: http://www.aalforum.eu/(opens in new window)
