The Second European Energy Conference will take place from 17 to 20 April 2012 in Maastricht, the Netherlands.
If the future European energy system is to be sustainable in terms of environmental and climate impact, the areas of supply, industrial viability and societal acceptance may also need to be taken into account. The challenges that this could bring encompass several levels of complexity, from natural science research and engineering to social sciences, systems solutions, and actions and agreements at the global political level.
The European scientific community has the potential to meet these challenges, and optimise the necessary interdisciplinary cooperation and communication in energy research, development and industrial innovation.
