The 'Mucosal dendritic cell-epithelial cell cross-talk conference' will take place on 14 October 2011 in London, UK.

The event will focus on the intestine as a highly active immune organ. The gut epithelium is continually exposed to diverse dietary and environmental antigens in the presence of commensal bacteria. At the same time, the gut is able to react to true pathogens that invade the gut mucosa. This capacity is thought to be acquired through complex interactions between the gut microbiota, intestinal epithelium and underlying mucosal immune system

The conference will bring together scientist to exchange current knowledge on the role of epithelial cells on the mucosal surfaces in this field. For further information, please visit: http://www.sfam.org.uk/en/events/index.cfm/dendritic(opens in new window)
