An event entitled 'Big learning: algorithms, systems, and tools for learning at scale' will take place from 16 to 17 December 2011 in Sierra Nevada, Spain.

The event will cover topics related to tools, algorithms, systems, hardware and real-world problem domains connected to large-scale machine learning. Machine learning deals with the development of algorithms allowing a machine to learn via inductive inference. This is done by observing data that represents incomplete information about statistical phenomenon and generalising it to make predictions on missing attributes or future data.

The workshop will bring together experts from such diverse fields as machine learning, databases, parallel and distributed systems, parallel architectures, and programming languages and abstractions. Topics on the event agenda will include:
- hardware-accelerated learning;
- applications of 'big learning';
- tools, software, and systems;
- models and algorithms.For further information, please visit: http://biglearn.org/(opens in new window)
