'Conference on smart cities', Copenhagen, Denmark
Rapid urbanisation is leading to a growing number of large cities and megacities. Population projections show that the world population may exceed 9 billion by 2050 and that nearly 6.3 billion people will live in cities. This growing urban population will be spread across a large number of small and medium-sized cities. However, the number of mega-cities and other large urban areas may increase significantly. These large cities will contribute to climate change, and will in turn be affected by its consequences.
The conference participants aim to look at new approaches as to what cities can do to be good habitats, economically successful and environmentally efficient. It will bring together leading researchers and policy makers in this field to discuss and exchange ideas. For further information, please visit: http://www.risoe.dtu.dk/News_archives/News/2011/1017_smart_city.aspx?sc_lang=en /
