Eighth Italian Research Conference on Digital Libraries, Bari, Italy
A digital library is a library in which collections are stored in digital formats and may be accessed either locally or remotely. This type of library has a variety of uses. For example, academic entities may make institutional books, papers, theses, and other works available to a wide audience with few restrictions. Archives may often make significant use of digital library methods and technologies.
Digital library systems are becoming increasingly mature and widely deployed. They not only have to give users effective and personalised access to information, but also now need to include legacy and cultural heritage documents. This calls for the ability to deal with compound objects in different media, and provide uniform solutions and methodologies across different cultural heritage institutions, while taking into account preservation, restoration and curation concerns. For further information, please visit: http://193.204.187.249/~stefano/IRCDL2012/
