Netherlands
A workshop entitled 'Sustainable protein supply' will take place on 16 March 2012 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The global demand for animal protein (such as meat and milk proteins) is increasing rapidly. This is caused by the growing world population and reinforced by the increasing income per capita in industrialising countries in Asia and South America.

Reducing the environmental impact of the global protein consumption is of crucial importance to allow meeting the needs for future generations.

The event will look at optimising animal protein production with respect to environmental impact and developing alternatives to conventional animal protein-based products. It will also look at the politics regarding sustainable protein supply and EU initiatives related to the topic. For further information, please visit: http://www.cost.esf.org/events/protein(opens in new window)
